Spirometry services to re-commence soon

The Thoracic Society Australia & New Zealand (TSANZ) and the Australia New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science (ANZSRS) have recently recommended that respiratory function testing in this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic can be resumed. In the occupational health setting our Sonic HealthPlus clinics are preparing to meet the additional safety requirements as advised in the TSANZ-ANZSRS communique. It includes the introduction of the use of disposable in-line bio-filters (bacterial/viral) for all spirometry tests that are performed. The TSANZ/ANZSRS safety criteria is aimed at minimising the exposure to respiratory pathogens for both the worker and staff performing a spirometry test.
