This allows us to provide travel medicine to a variety of travellers. As passionate travellers, we understand the risks and rewards associated with international travel.
Our medical team have undertaken additional training in this discipline to enable them to provide accurate and individualised advice, all relevant to your destination and itinerary.
Dr Muffet has worked in General Practice for 11 years and has travelled extensively in developing countries. Dr Muffet began with Travel Doctor in 2011 and has a keen interest in tropical medicine and the post traveller. He has expert knowledge in comprehensive medical assessments as well as occupational immunisation advice for non-travellers (eg Health and veterinary professionals).
Dr Muffet provides Travel Medicine lectures for our clinicians through small learning group sessions. He also provides training to local General Practice trainees through his involvement with a local GP training provider.
Dr Weaver has worked in General Practice for 33 years, prior to which he undertook a research science degree and worked as a hospital research assistant in Immunology. Dr Weaver owned a private practice in suburban Adelaide for 14 years before moving to a busy corporate setting.
Dr Weaver worked for Sonic HealthPlus for 2 years, before commencing his recent stint at Adelaide Unicare. Here he consulted many patients, including Australian and International students, many of whom are in health disciplines requiring extensive immunisation protocols. At Adelaide Unicare Dr Weaver was the Clinical Advisor, as well as a teacher for the medical students and general practice registrars. Dr Weaver has again joined the team at Sonic HealthPlus, providing a wealth of knowledge in both general practice, and travel medicine. As an avid traveller, Dr Weaver particularly enjoys tripping to Asia and Europe.
Arvind is passionate about travel medicine and helping people stay healthy throughout your journey. He has worked across South Australia including remote and rural areas in general practice as well as providing training, supervising young trainee doctors in general practice. He is currently working part-time in aged care supporting older Australians living in residential aged care facilities. Arvind is an avid traveller and enjoys travel photography and indoor sports.
Tania Jarvis is a Registered Nurse and Clinic Manager. Tania has worked in both public and private sectors in a range of speciality areas of acute nursing for many years and has a particular interest in primary health care. Tania was involved in setting up the first Nursing Unit in SA, and has worked in a public hospital in Newark NYC for a time which established her interest in Travel Medicine.
Tania joined the Sonic HealthPlus team in 2002 as an RN, then Senior RN and completed a Diploma in Management. In her current role as Clinic Manager she is able to support clinical staff and is very active in providing up to date evidence based nursing practice. She has travelled extensively and is passionate about safe and healthy travel to all parts of the world.
Hiroe has been working as a registered nurse for nearly a decade in Japan and Singapore. An avid traveller, Hiroe loves local cuisine and spent an enjoyable time living in Fiji. Hiroe came to Australia in 2014 and obtained her Bachelor of Nursing at Flinders University. She brings in-depth international experience to our team and is passionate about supporting people who are traveling overseas.
Catherine has worked in Travel Medicine for 25 years. For over 35 years Catherine has travel to developing countries around the world including travelling through South America, driving from Kenya to Jordan, trekked in the Indian Himalayans and cruised to Papua New Guinea to name a few destinations. Through her personal experiences she has a good appreciation of travellers and their risks and needs.
Her commitment to Travel Medicine has seen her extend her knowledge by completing Immunisation courses, a Masters in Public Health and currently is doing a Masters in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner in Travel Medicine.
Catherine believes that travel vaccinations are only part of the Travel Medicine experience. She is passionate about educating her clients in safe travel practices and providing them with the tools to assist them in self- treatment of common travel related health problems, if necessary.
