Dr Abeydeera is a Specialist Occupational Physician with the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM), Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Following graduation from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dr Abeydeera completed his internship and junior medical training in the United Kingdom. Since moving to Australia in 2006, Dr Abeydeera underwent further hospital and emergency medicine training in NSW Health and Royal North Shore Hospital before focusing on Occupational Medicine in 2011.
Dr Abeydeera has completed a Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health with Monash University and also holds Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine (ACCAM) with Monash University.
Dr Abeydeera has provided occupational, general and emergency medical services as a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) doctor in a Queensland Surat Basin coal seam gas project and has a special interest in aviation medicine, health surveillance, safety critical workers health, work place drug and alcohol consultations, fitness for duty assessments and return to work.
Dr Richmond graduated from the University of Queensland in 2004. She completed her intern year at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland before moving to Ireland for two years. In Ireland she worked in Emergency Medicine and Oncology. On returning to Australia, Dr Richmond worked in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics and Intensive Care before working in Occupational Medicine in 2009. Since then she has also undertaken further training in Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Medicine. Dr Richmond’s interests include injury management, assisting in early return to work plans, pre-employment medicals, health surveillance medicals and on-site visits.
Kerry completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology) in 2015 and worked as an Exercise Physiologist in chronic disease management. In 2017, he transitioned into occupational health after joining Sonic HealthPlus. Kerry worked in both administration and clinical roles for the Alexandria clinic before moving into his current role as clinic manager. He enjoys being able to assist the team in a wide variety of duties and is passionate about improving the health of the workforce, particularly through healthy lifestyle habits such as exercise and diet.
Lawrence is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and has been working with Sonic HealthPlus since March 2019. Graduating in 2017 from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology), he has gone on to work in both private practice and rehabilitation hospital settings. He has a deep passion for preventative and clinical exercise therapy, and has a particular interest in the areas of cardiac and cancer rehabilitation, as well as chronic pain.
Liam graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology. He has experience predominantly in the rehabilitation setting – largely in post-operative and disability fields. He enjoys the clinical nature of his job, the interaction with nurses and doctors on a day to day basis and assessing the functional capacity required for certain jobs within the industry.
Laurrene graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing in the Philippines and has been a Registered Nurse since 2009. She started in the occupational health industry in 2015 as an assistance nurse and became a Registered Nurse in Australia in 2017. She joined the Sonic HealthPlus team in April 2018 and performs duties such as medical screening, pathology collection, injury & wound management and also nurse led rail medicals. She is passionate about providing health education and enjoys working with the Alexandria team.
Ruth graduated as a Registered Nurse in Hong Kong. She joined Sonic HealthPlus in 2016 as a site services nurse immuniser. She has worked in a variety of contexts including hospitals, nursing homes, pathology and medical centres. Ruth now works in the Alexandria clinic assisting in health screening, immunisation and nursing procedures. She loves the variety of the job and gaining new knowledge and skills.
