Our clinic is a private practice and runs by booked appointments. We cannot offer walk-in appointments for non-urgent consultations. We do not provide scripts without an appointment to see one of our GPs.
To make an appointment you can call our reception team on 08 8981 4233 or utilise the Easy Visit website www.easyvisit.com.au and enter Darwin as the clinic location. We offer a range of consultations and services via face-to-face and telehealth. For all telehealth consultations you will need to provide your up to date telephone details to our Reception team at the time of booking. The GP will then call you on the telephone number provided. Please note that the call may come from an UNKNOWN caller due to privacy.
All new patients are required to telephone 08 8981 4233 for a booking and must be seen face-to-face for their initial appointment.
We can offer same day and/or walk-in appointments for injured workers. Our staff will triage and assess your priority and a GP will see you as soon as possible. There may be a wait for a GP to become available during our peak times.
If you are a regular patient of our clinic and cannot travel for your appointment, your GP may be able to visit you at home. This is solely at the discretion of the GP. Please discuss this with our Reception team who will confirm with your GP if this is possible.

Concerns, Suggestions and Complaints:
If you have a problem, we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your doctor or receptionist. You may prefer to write to us, or contact the Practice Manager on 08 8981 4233. We take concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously and will deal with any matters that come to us. All complaints will be followed up and in writing, if requested. Complaints can be made directly to the clinic or via the feedback section on our website, and a QR code that you can scan from posters located in the clinic is available. We take concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously and have a comprehensive policy around how we deal with them, reporting timeframes, and reportable actions. All complaints will be followed up in writing, even where they were offered verbally.
There is metered on street parking along Bennett Street and limited off street parking in our car park – the entry gate is adjacent to our building.
We are located on the corner and Smith and Bennett Streets in Darwin’s CBD. The bus terminal is located in the street behind our premises. Smith Street Mall offers a variety of retail and food shops for you to browse pre or post your appointment.
Fees and Billing
We are a private practice and you will be required to pay for your consultations on the day of appointment. This includes any vaccine costs and other medical or consumable costs, such as dressings. We accept CASH, EFTPOS or CREDIT CARD. We do not charge a surcharge for using your EFTPOS or credit Card.
Our clinic will bulk bill children under 16 years of age, and seniors with a pension card. Bulk billing is always at the discretion of the GP and may not apply to all children or pension card holders for every appointment.
We do not bulk bill students or healthcare card holders.
For every appointment, you must provide your most up to date Medicare Card. If you do not provide this, you will be required to pay the long appointment fee. All non-Medicare card holders are required to pay the non-Medicare fees on the day of appointment. We cannot provide health or travel insurance rebates.
Telephone & Electronic Communications
Our practice communicates with patients through phone calls, text messaging if you have opted to receive them or secure email. Please note, to protect your personal information, we are unable to accept email communication from patients.
Your GP will try to take your call but may be away or busy with patients. Please advise if it is urgent. An appointment is required for test results, only in rare cases will a results be provided by phone.

Sonic HealthPlus Darwin CBD is a private billing practice. All consultations are to be paid for on the day. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Eftpos. The practice bulk bills children under 16 and concession holders at the doctor’s discretion. Should you be eligible, please bring your Medicare Card, Concession Card or Veterans Affairs card to each consult. Medical record requests have a fee attached.

Many of our team members have been working together since we first opened in 2005, back at Cavenagh Street. Since then, we’ve welcomed some great, local and international talent.
Dr Farzana Hoq obtained her medical degree in Bangladesh back in 2001. She moved to Adelaide in 2003 with her husband and son, training in Flinders Medical Centre for 2 years before relocating to Alice Springs to work in the Alice Springs hospital for a year. She worked for 7 years in various GP practices obtaining her FRACGP in 2013 under NTGPE. Later in 2013, she moved to Darwin working in various practices before joining Sonic HealthPlus in 2015.
She has a keen interest in indigenous, women's, children's health, and also in chronic disease management.
Farzana loves travelling, reading and spending time with family.
Dr Sutherland has lived in Darwin for 16 years with her husband and their 4 children.
Her main areas of experience are in paediatrics, geriatrics and women's health.
She has undergone specialty training in Fertility Education Medical Management (FEMM) with the Reproductive Health Research Institute (RHRI) and uses the FEMM and RHRI protocols to diagnose a range of hormonal disorders, including ovarian dysfunction, polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid imbalances, endometriosis, depression, menopause and infertility and to treat these with immunological and targeted pharmacological interventions, diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.
Originally from Melbourne Victoria, Kathy has accumulated over 25 years of experience across operational and business leadership within the public and private health sector.
She began her career in corporate administration before studying her degree in Economics & Finance, followed by post graduate study in business and leadership. Working as an analyst, strategic and project manager, and the opportunity to provide keynote speaking and published articles on industry and economics, Kathy moved into the healthcare sector commencing with the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. She moved onto the Women’s Hospital and Epworth Hospitals in Melbourne, before taking a regional role with I-MED Radiology. Kathy is now focussing on Corporate and GP health after relocating to Darwin to work with Sonichealthplus for the next phase of her health career. In her spare time Kathy enjoys walking her dogs, travelling, reading and enjoying all the NT has to offer.
Maria Eito is the longest serving member of staff. Maria worked in Spain and the United Kingdom and is very popular with patients and staff alike. She has particular expertise in foreign travel advice and vaccinations, chronic disease management and wound dressing. Maria arranges follow-up and recall systems including recall for abnormal test results.
Andrea was born and raised in Darwin and graduated from Deakin University, Melbourne.
Accredited with Exercise Sport Science Australia, Andrea has experience in developing tailored exercise programs, improving function and quality of life for older adults and now Occupational health. Andrea provides a range full of services to our candidates including musculoskeletal and onsite fitness assessments, employment screening and ergonomic assessments. She aims to deliver quality health and wellness services by using evidence based tools and person centred care.
Our frontline team are here to help with anything you may need. Dedicated administrators of general practice and occupational healthcare, they will be able to assist with queries you have or point you in the right direction. Our administrators work closely with clinical staff to ensure the smooth running of all aspects in the clinic.
