Many of our team members have been working together since we first opened in 2005, back at Cavenagh Street. Since then, we’ve welcomed some great, local and international talent.
Dr Brownjohn has been working in general practice in Darwin’s CBD since 1984. Since 2008 he has focused on occupational medical work, particularly work related injury management. He is currently a medical inspector of seamen for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, a Vanuatu approved seafarer’s examiner, a Malaysian Marine Department medical practitioner and a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. He is also recognized by the South Pacific Underwater Medical Society (SPUMS) to perform commercial standard diving medical examinations. He performs mannitol provocation tests for the detection and assessment of asthma.
Dr Brownjohn enjoys surgical assisting and has been trained in many aspects of weight loss surgery including adjusting lap-bands.
Dr Brownjohn enjoys experiencing the natural world, including scuba diving, and is a keen cyclist.
Dr Farzana Hoq obtained her medical degree in Bangladesh back in 2001. She moved to Adelaide in 2003 with her husband and son, training in Flinders Medical Centre for 2 years before relocating to Alice Springs to work in the Alice Springs hospital for a year. She worked for 7 years in various GP practices obtaining her FRACGP in 2013 under NTGPE. Later in 2013, she moved to Darwin working in various practices before joining Sonic HealthPlus in 2015.
She has a keen interest in indigenous, women's, children's health, and also in chronic disease management.
Farzana loves travelling, reading and spending time with family.
Dr Ali Maghsoudlou graduated from Iran University of Medical Sciences in 2003 and has been living in Darwin since 2013.
He is a fellow of the RACGP and has a wide range of interests including but not limited to: detection and management of musculoskeletal injuries/sport injuries, Accredited Suboxone prescriber, Iron infusions, latest available Hepatitis C treatment with DAA to eligible cases, and Medical management of Diabetes Mellitus type II -including use of insulin- in a multidisciplinary team.
Ali also has a special interest in Skin Checks after realising the importance of skin cancer detection and management in day-to-day work as a GP in the NT. He has a certificate in skin-cancer medicine & Dermatoscopy and is currently in the process of achieving Diploma of skin cancer medicine, offering spot or full skin-checks to patients.
In his free time, Ali enjoys tennis and spending time with family, camping and bike riding.
Originally hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Scott came to Darwin and Sonic HealthPlus in 2012. Forming a close-knit team and overseeing many of the interesting changes in Darwin and the greater healthcare environment.
Scott has overseen management of all areas of the clinic with a particularly strong background in Occupational Healthcare and results management. He is committed to providing excellent customer service and always available for feedback.
Maria Eito is the longest serving member of staff. Maria worked in Spain and the United Kingdom and is very popular with patients and staff alike. She has particular expertise in foreign travel advice and vaccinations, chronic disease management and wound dressing. Maria arranges follow-up and recall systems including recall for abnormal test results.
Our frontline team are here to help with anything you may need. Dedicated administrators of general practice and occupational healthcare, they will be able to assist with queries you have or point you in the right direction. Our administrators work closely with clinical staff to ensure the smooth running of all aspects in the clinic.
Sonic HealthPlus Darwin specialises in provision of wide-variety of employment medical assessments. Our AS/NZS 4308:2008 accredited drug and alcohol screeners also assist the doctors with audiometry testing, spirometry testing, pathology collection and also performing of ECGs when required.
