Sonic HealthPlus Newman is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Located north of the Tropic of Capricorn, Newman is accessible by the Great Northern Highway and via the Mount Newman railway linked to Port Hedland. Established in the 1960’s, Newman was named after early explorer A.W. Newman and is known as a modern mining town. With soil rich in mineral deposits, Newman grew an established mining economy which commenced in the resource boom of the 1970’s.
Living and working in the remote Pilbara region, our patients are faced with a particular set of health concerns including high exposure to the sun and with a large number of workers requiring employment medicals for their work in the mines. As locals, our team understands the unique challenges of the patients that we see. We offer both occupational health and general practice services to suit the needs of patients in our community.

We offer same day and/or walk-in appointments for certain services, including injury management. A short wait time may be required for walk-in appointments, however our team will endeavour to see you as soon as possible.

Please ring (08) 9175 1231 for an appointment. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time; however emergencies will be given priority.
Appointment times are approximately 10 minutes – please tell the reception staff if you require a longer appointment time.
Every effort is made to attend to walk in patients with an urgent matter. However in some instances, it will be requested that you make an appointment at a later date and time to accommodate your needs.
If you have a problem we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your doctor or receptionist. You may prefer to write to us or contact the Clinic Manager, on 08 9175 1231. We take concerns, suggestions and complaints very seriously and will deal with any matters that come to us. All complaints will be followed up and in writing if requested.

Sonic HealthPlus Newman is a mixed billing practice. All consultations are to be paid for on the day. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Eftpos. The practice bulk bills children under 16 and concession holders at the doctor’s discretion. Our clinic participates in national, state and territory recall and reminder systems, please advise if you do not wish to be registered in the reminder system. We will recall you for preventative care and follow-up treatment if required. Please advise the reception staff or doctor if you do not wish to be involved in the practice systems.
Our clinic policy is that all results are not to be given via telephone. If you would like to discuss your results with your doctor please make an appointment with the reception staff as they will be more than happy to assist.
If you wish to discuss something with our nursing staff, your call will be attended to as quickly as possible. If the nurse is unavailable at the time of your call, we will phone you back at our first available opportunity.
