About Our Clinic
Our clinic is conveniently located within Hobart’s CBD and services the occupational health needs of businesses and workers within our community. Easily accessible from all of Hobart’s main attractions and businesses in the city, we are a comprehensive clinic and one of Australia’s leading occupational health care providers.
We have an encompassing comprehensive occupational health service which includes injury management and prevention, employment medicals, drug and alcohol testing, specialised medicals, immunisations and skin screening. Our team includes occupational health professionals who are passionate about their field of medicine. With three doctors and two nurses based on site at our clinic, we provide a knowledgeable and efficient health service to each patient that we see.

Meet Our Team
Dr Megan Baker
General Practitioner
Dr Megan Baker is a general practitioner with special interests in occupational, aviation and travel medicine. She attained her Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Tasmania and served as a Medical Officer in the RAN while completing her Fellowship of General Practice (FRACGP). She is currently studying a Dip. Occupational and Environmental Medicine through Monash University and has completed additional training in travel medicine.
Dr Baker completes a wide range of pre-employment, health surveillance, corporate and retail travel assessments, and workplace injury management. She is a CASA Designated Aviation Medical Examiner, a Medical Review Officer and a Medical Inspector of Seafarers (AMSA).

Dr Robert Blakesley
General Practitioner
Dr Robert Blakesley is a general practitioner (MBBS, FRACGP). Dr Blakesley grew up in Hobart and graduated from the University of Tasmania. His special interests are occupational medicine, sports medicine, minor surgery and men’s health. He is accredited to perform AMSA and Rail medicals, pre-employment medicals and workplace injury management.

Melissa Gofton
Registered Nurse
Melissa has over 20 years’ experience as a registered nurse and 10 years’ as a nurse immuniser. She has a keen interest in all things related to travel health and strives to continuously expand and improve her knowledge in this area.
Suzanne Wells
Enrolled Nurse
Suzanne has worked within the health industry for a large portion of her career and joined the team in June 2022. She enjoys working within a team environment and upholding the values of the organisation, is customer-focused, and works well under pressure.

Annette Stevenson
Practice Manager
Annette joined the team at Sonic HealthPlus Hobart in July 2017, with 18 years’ experience in general practice. Her background encompasses many years of managing highly effective healthcare teams as a practice manager. She enjoys being an integral part of a friendly and productive team.
Annette has experience managing medical practitioners, physiotherapists, nurses, psychologists, exercise physiologists, health screeners and administration teams. This ensures she is well positioned to assist and promote a growing business in Hobart.
Hannah Manning
Exercise Scientist
Hannah graduated from the University of Tasmania as an exercise scientist in 2023 after completing a bachelor degree in exercise and sport science. She conducts musculoskeletal and fitness testing at Sonic HealthPlus Hobart. She has a passion for anything health, exercise and sports-related and is always looking for ways to further her knowledge and skills in this area. In early 2024, Hannah completed training in screening, including spirometry, drug and alcohol testing, and hearing assessment; she assists in this area at Sonic HealthPlus Hobart.

Brooke Bowerman
Senior Clinical Administration Officer (CAO)/Operational Lead Australian Antarctic Division
Brooke commenced with Sonic HealthPlus in 2016. She is a very valuable asset to the Hobart Sonic team. As the senior CAO, Brooke’s high-quality customer service and attention to detail have earned her a position as operational lead for the Australian Antarctic Division, overseeing and maintaining this very valuable account.
Janaya Poulson
CAO/Screener
Janaya commenced employment at Sonic Health Plus in late 2022 as a clinical administration officer on a full-time basis. She enjoyed working at the front desk greeting patients and sending off results. She decided she’d like to learn the screening components of medicals, so she completed screener training to assist the team when required throughout the clinic. Janaya enjoys the variety of tasks and responsibilities that are required for her roles and enjoys working with the team at Sonic HealthPlus Hobart.
Harrison Opray
CAO/Screener
Harry joined the Sonic HealthPlus team during December of 2023, training to become an administration officer and screener. Harry is a casual employee who enjoys the flexibility of changing job roles while working in an enjoyable and efficient environment.
Imogen Flaherty
CAO
Imogen joined the Sonic team in January 2023 as a full time CAO. Imogen enjoys the flexibility and fast-paced nature of the work environment. She is always willing to learn and assist the team in all areas.

Drug and Alcohol Testing
Drug and alcohol testing has been shown to improve productivity and help employers support workers who struggle with substance abuse.
Employment Medicals
Employment Medicals are performed to ensure an employee is fit to work in a specific environment. This comprehensive medical ensures the employee can fulfil the requirements of the role and will identify and protect the employee from potentially harmful work environments.
Immunisations
Safe and efficient, immunisations are a significant health intervention against preventable disease. Sonic HealthPlus provides a range of immunisations including influenza, tetanus and hepatitis.
Injury Management and Prevention
Injured workers have immediate access to a range of medical personnel to ensure an integrated and prompt recovery with optimal outcomes for both the employee and employer. Our doctor’s work alongside allied health professionals and are experts in treating and returning injured workers back to the workplace as soon as it is safe to do so.
Skin Screening
Our doctors are trained in the diagnosis and management of skin problems, including skin cancers. An initial appointment with one of our doctors is required prior to any treatment plan.
