Sonic HealthPlus Melbourne CBD provides a range of General Practice services with a focus on women’s health, family medicine, travel medicine and preventative healthcare.
Family Medicine
Focusing on a more holistic approach to healthcare, family medicine takes into consideration the continuing and comprehensive health of an individual and their family.
Women’s Health
The practice of women’s health covers a comprehensive array of healthcare services specifically designed for women. This includes contraceptive advice and device insertion, pap smears and general health and wellbeing management.
Skin Screening
Our doctors are trained in the diagnosis and management of skin problems including skin cancers. An initial appointment with one of our doctors is required prior to any treatment plan.
Immunisations
Safe and efficient, immunisations are a significant health intervention against preventable disease. Sonic HealthPlus provides a range of immunisations including influenza, childhood immunisations, tetanus and hepatitis.
Travel Medicine
We are equipped to provide travel medicine services, travel health advice plans and travel medications for both private and corporate travellers and their families. Our clinic is government accredited to provide yellow fever vaccinations. We can provide you with a range of vaccines, including the yellow fever vaccine, and international certificate of vaccination in accordance with international health regulations.
Preventative Medicine
Preventative medicine focuses on the individual needs of each patient to protect and maintain their health and well-being, and to help prevent disease and disability.
Reminder and Recall System
Our clinic participates in national, state and territory recall and reminder systems, please advise if you do not wish to be registered in the reminder system. We will recall you for preventative care and follow-up treatment if required. Please advise the reception staff or doctor if you do not wish to be involved in the practice systems.
Fees
All consultations are payable on the day. When making your appointment please enquire with the receptionist as to the fee applicable.We provide a high standard of care in a well-equipped and located practice. Longer consultations will be charged at a higher fee with a higher Medicare rebate available.
Standard Practice Fees from July 2016
Monday – Friday before 8am:
Standard consultation Fee : $95.00
Long consultation Fee : $172.00
Monday – Friday after 8am:
Standard consultation Fee : $85.00
Long consultation Fee : $160.00
Prolonged consultation Fee: $220.00 Note – Private consultations are GST exclusive.
Scheduled Appointments
All consultations are by appointment. Standard appointments are 15-20 minutes. If you have multiple or complex medical issues please request a longer appointment. This reduces delays for all patients. All patients attending the practice for the first time require a double appointment.
Doctor of Choice
Every effort is made to provide an appointment with the doctor of your choice; however, for urgent matters this may not be possible.
Tests Results and Prescriptions
All scripts require a doctor’s appointment; our doctors do not take requests for repeat scripts over the phone. Generally a follow up visit will be necessary to review all tests results. For follow-up appointments allow at least 3 working days for results to be received and reviewed by your doctor. Patients will be contacted if results require immediate or urgent follow-up
Recalls
The practice has a policy for recalling patients where medically appropriate. If the doctor considers this is indicated for you it will be discussed with you.
Referrals
All referrals require a consultation and will not be backdated. It is important that once a referral is made the patient makes the appropriate arrangements to see the specialist or provider to whom they have been referred. It is advisable to contact the specialist or other provider to obtain details of any out of pocket costs which can be substantial.
Phone Advice
Doctors may be contacted by phone during normal hours. A message will be taken and the doctor will return the call at the end of their consulting session or before if possible. Emergency calls will be dealt with immediately.
Contact Details
It is important that patients advise the clinic of any change in their contact details. This can be done by phone, by letter, in person or by email. In order to provide service to our patients it is our policy that we require an emergency person and contact details.
