About Our Clinic
Sonic HealthPlus Naval Base is located 35 minutes south of Perth’s CBD. Conveniently situated in the industrial area, we service the health requirements of the busy employees who work in this area.
We have a thorough understanding of the health requirements of Western Australian workers and have amended our services to suit their specific needs. Covering complex and straight forward workplace health cases, we offer comprehensive occupational health services to ensure your team receive accurate and timely health advice and treatment each and every visit.
Our list of services include injury management and prevention, workplace medicals, health surveillance, skin screening and drug and alcohol testing. Delivered by highly trained medical professionals, you can be sure that your team will receive the best treatment to enable them to be healthier, happier and safer at their workplace.
The team at Sonic HealthPlus Naval Base consists of Dr Mahesh Morar, Dr Russell Fayers, Physiotherapist Paul Van Dongen, Clinic Manager Roslyn Blaikie, the administration team and the screener/nurse team, who work together to provide a cohesive health service to the patients we see daily. Meet Our Team
Dr Mahesh Morar
Medical Practitioner
Mahesh is a qualified General Practitioner. He has been working in occupational medicine at Sonic HealthPlus Naval Base for over 19 years, providing services such as Pre-Employment Medicals, Injury Management, Health Surveillance, OGUK (Ukooa) Medicals and Workers Compensation. He graduated with an MBChB in 1982 in South Africa followed by a FRACGP Australia 2006.
During his time at Naval Base, Mahesh has developed extensive knowledge pertaining to the prevention and management of workplace injuries relevant to the local industry. This knowledge is supported by his special interest and ongoing experience assisting orthopaedic surgeons with upper and lower limb musculoskeletal surgery. Mahesh gets great satisfaction from participating in the management of injuries resulting in full recovery and resolution.
Dr Russell Fayers
Medical Practitioner
Dr Russell Fayers is a senior Occupational and Environmental Physician registrar and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners with postgraduate qualification in Occupational and Environmental Health.
He has a breadth of experience in Workers Compensation injury management in association with WorkCover WA, fitness for work/capacity assessments and pre-employment medical capacity assessments. His client interactions range from international mining, oil and gas companies, public and private health services to small retail industries. He has a passion for workplace hazard and risk assessment, management and communication with clients and health surveillance. He has a particular interest in leadership development within all industries with respect to occupational health and safety.
Dr Fayers is also a OGUK Registered Doctor, RISSB Authorised Health Professional and Shell Nominated Doctor.
Paul Van Dongen
Physiotherapist
Paul Van Dongen is the Naval Base Clinics senior Physiotherapist and has been with the clinic for 11 years. Paul graduated in 2005 at Curtin University with a BSC Physiotherapy receiving the award for graduating student with highest clinical results. Paul’s work focuses on workplace injury management and rehabilitation as well as completing pre-employment Musculoskeletal and Fitness assessments. Paul is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and has completed further training in the management of complex shoulder and lower back injuries, dry needling and taping techniques. Paul finds great satisfaction in helping to educate patients to empower them in understanding their injury and allowing them to actively assist in their rehabilitation and full recovery. Working alongside Dr Morar for a long period of time has enabled both practitioners to form a successful and efficient partnership in the management of workplace injuries.
Roslyn Blaikie
Practice Manager
Roslyn Blaikie is the Clinic Manager at Naval Base and has been with the company since 2008. Roslyn started in a reception position at the Rockingham clinic in 2008. She has developed her experience training as an Occupational Health Technician and results management. In 2014 Roslyn was successful in the application for the role of Clinic manager at our Naval Base location. With her background as an Occupation Health Technician Roslyn brings to the Naval Base Clinic an established knowledge of the industry tailored to the local area and clientele of Kwinana/Henderson vicinity.
Administration Team
Our Busy administration team includes three professionals with extensive experience working in the Occupational Health industry. Highly knowledgeable on our clinic and the services we provide, our administration team are the first point of contact and assist all customers efficiently and effectively.
Screener/Nurse Team
Our team of long serving screeners are competent in all aspects of their role including Work Cover Audiometry, Spirometry, ECG as well as NATA accredited to AS/NZS 4308:2008 standards for urine drug testing and collection. With workplace camaraderie as such as at Naval Base we have the ability to process medicals in an efficient and effective manner.

Drug and Alcohol Testing
Drug and alcohol testing has been shown to improve productivity and help employers support workers who struggle with substance abuse.
Employment Medicals
Employment Medicals are performed to ensure an employee is fit to work in a specific environment. This comprehensive medical ensures the employee can fulfil the requirements of the role and will identify and protect the employee from potentially harmful work environments.
Health Surveillance
Health surveillance is the systematic approach to monitoring the health of an individual over time. Often a legal requirement in the workplace, health surveillance monitors exposure to noise, vibration, ionising radiation, solvents, fumes, dust, biological agents and other substances hazardous to an employee’s health.
Hearing Assessments
Hearing assessments are completed to evaluate the sensitivity of a patient’s sense of hearing. This assessment can be requested by an employer, during a health assessment, or if there is reason for concern. Hearing assessments aid our doctors in identifying any potential problem with a patient’s hearing and provide a baseline reading for workers on loud work sites.
Injury Management and Prevention
Injured workers have immediate access to a range of medical personnel to ensure an integrated and prompt recovery with optimal outcomes for both the employee and employer. Our doctor’s work alongside allied health professionals and are experts in treating and returning injured workers back to the workplace as soon as it is safe to do so.
Physiotherapy
Our skilled physiotherapists assist patients in the treatment and management of all occupational health injuries and ailments including workforce induced neck and shoulder pain, headaches, workplace injuries and other various body complaints. Our physiotherapist is skilled in musculoskeletal disorders and utilise massage, exercise, mobilisation and manipulation techniques to assist in pain management, treatment and injury rehabilitation.
Skin Screening
Our doctors are trained in the diagnosis and management of skin problems, including skin cancers. An initial appointment with one of our doctors is required prior to any treatment plan.

Travel Medicine
In partnership with one of Australia’s largest travel medicine providers, Travelvax, we can provide you and your workforce with a range of travel vaccinations, travel accessories and travel health plans. Our clinic is government accredited to provide yellow fever vaccinations. We can provide you with a range of vaccines, including the yellow fever vaccine, and international certificate of vaccination in accordance with international health regulations.
