Affiliated with one of Australia’s leading providers of occupational healthcare, we are trusted to provide accurate and individualised treatment to return workers back to the workforce safely and in the best interests of both the worker and their employer. Our services include injury management and prevention, employment medicals, drug and alcohol testing, travel medicine, executive health evaluations, and we are an accredited yellow fever vaccination centre.

Meet Our Team

Dr Benjamin Lam
Medical Practitioner
Dr Benjamin Lam has worked in Occupational Medicine since 2013. He joined Sonic HealthPlus in 2016. Dr Lam has worked across a number of industries (including mining, railway and oil and gas) and is experienced in pre-employment medicals, injury management, fitness for duty assessments, health surveillance and travel medicine. Dr Lam is specifically accredited to perform AHP railway medical assessments, OGUK medical assessments, AMSA medical assessments, and MRO services. Dr Lam enjoys the challenges of co-ordinating healthcare between a multitude of stakeholders and ensuring the best outcomes for workers and employers alike. He enjoys the great team and working environment in the Sydney CBD clinic.

Dr Candice Chin
Medical Practitioner
Dr Chin has been an occupational health medical practitioner since 2013, joining Sonic Health Plus in 2015. She graduated as a Doctor of Medicine and has completed her requirements for the Australian Medical Council (AMC) certificate.
Dr Chin is an accredited AHP for railway medicals, Medical Inspector of Seafarers (MIS) for AMSA, Government Contracted Doctor (GCD) for Disability Support Pension and Medical Review Officer (MRO). She is experienced in performing pre-employment medicals, health surveillance, driver medicals, rail safety medicals, disability medical assessments, seafarer medicals, injury management and rehabilitation, NSW Coal Board medicals and telemedicine consultations.

Dr Manzoor Peerzada
Medical Practitioner
Dr Manzoor Peerzada is a specialist General Practitioner with Fellowship from RACGP. He is also an Occupational Medical Practitioner with post graduate training from Monash University. Dr Peerzada is passionate about preventative aspects of medicine and utilises his experience and skills to help people remain healthy while working.
Dr Peerzada is an injury management consultant who utilises personal care and preventative strategies to ensure businesses minimise workplace risks and avoid distressing outcomes. Dr Peerzada has also trained as focussed psychological service provider.
Dr Peerzada is an accredited Rail Medical Examiner and is a CASA approved Aviation Medical Examiner. He is also an authorised panel physician conducting immigration medical exams for Australian Visa. Dr Peerzada has been practising for over 20 years.

Dr Prasad Abeydeera
Consultant Physician in Occupational and Environmental Medicine
Dr Abeydeera is a Specialist Occupational Physician with the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM), Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Following graduation from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dr Abeydeera completed his internship and junior medical training in the United Kingdom. Since moving to Australia in 2006, Dr Abeydeera underwent further hospital and emergency medicine training in NSW Health and Royal North Shore Hospital before focusing on Occupational Medicine in 2011.
Dr Abeydeera has completed a Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health with Monash University and also holds Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine (ACCAM) with Monash University.
Dr Abeydeera has provided occupational, general and emergency medical services as a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) doctor in a Queensland Surat Basin coal seam gas project and has a special interest in aviation medicine, health surveillance, safety critical workers health, work place drug and alcohol consultations, fitness for duty assessments and return to work.

Dr Roshan Awmee
Medical Practitioner
After graduating from the prestigious Monash University in 2012, Dr Roshan Awmee has worked in Australia for 10 years providing high level of patient care in diverse complex clinical settings and is a specialist General Practitioner with Fellowship from the RACGP. He is specifically accredited to do OEUK (OGUK) assessments, Executive Health assessments, Seafarers and coastal pilots’ assessments (AMSA), Marine Pilot health assessments and rehabilitation as well as telemedicine consultations.
Dr Awmee is starting the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Advanced training soon. He is in the process of completing the Master of Occupational and Environmental Health through Monash University. He is an accredited Injury Management Consultant with the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority.
Last but not the least, he is willing to provide travel advice based on latest guidelines and evidence-based medicine. He is also accredited in Yellow Fever and Q fever vaccination.

Asith Senanayake
Exercise Physiologist
Asith graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise & Sports Science) and a Masters of Exercise Physiology from Sydney University in 2018. He has worked across multiple NSW metro SHP clinics and enjoys engaging with the wide variety of candidates on a daily basis. Asith has a passion for health and fitness and a drive to provide excellent customer care at all times.
Catherine Smith
Exercise Physiologist
Catherine is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who joined our team in 2019. She completed her Bachelor of Exercise Physiology at the University of New South Wales in 2017, and since then has gained experience working in occupational health and rehabilitation, where she has assisted numerous injured clients to overcome barriers and achieve their recovery goals. At Sonic HealthPlus, Catherine is responsible for conducting medical screenings, drug and alcohol testing, musculoskeletal and fitness assessments, as well as executive health evaluations. She employs a client-centred approach whilst facilitating these medical assessments, and enjoys working closely with each individual to ensure they get the most out of their appointment.
Laurrene Serrano
Registered Nurse
Laurrene graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing in the Philippines and has been a Registered Nurse since 2009. She started in the occupational health industry in 2015 as an assistance nurse and became a Registered Nurse in Australia in 2017. She joined the Sonic HealthPlus team in April 2018 and performs duties such as medical screening, pathology collection, injury & wound management and also nurse led rail medicals. She is passionate about providing health education and enjoys working with the Alexandria team.

Robyn MacDonald
Medical Screener
Robyn is medical screener and receptionist with Sonic HealthPlus Sydney CBD. Meeting positive people is what Robyn loves most about her role. She finds it rewarding to be involved in returning people to work.

Drug and Alcohol Testing
Drug and alcohol testing has been shown to improve productivity and help employers support workers who struggle with substance abuse.
Employment Medicals
Employment Medicals are performed to ensure an employee is fit to work in a specific environment. This comprehensive medical ensures the employee can fulfil the requirements of the role and will identify and protect the employee from potentially harmful work environments.
Executive Health Evaluations
In today’s stressful and demanding business environment, looking after your executive staff is paramount. To ensure the ongoing health and wellness of your staff, Sonic HealthPlus offers specialist executive health evaluations (EHEs). EHEs are designed to cater for the unique needs and requirements of staff, stimulate thought about their health, and identify areas where action may be needed.
Health Surveillance
Health surveillance is the systematic approach to monitoring the health of an individual over time. Often a legal requirement in the workplace, health surveillance monitors exposure to noise, vibration, ionising radiation, solvents, fumes, dust, biological agents and other substances hazardous to an employee’s health.
Hearing Assessments
Hearing assessments are completed to evaluate the sensitivity of a patient’s sense of hearing. This assessment can be requested by an employer, during a health assessment, or if there is reason for concern. Hearing assessments aid our doctors in identifying any potential problem with a patient’s hearing and provide a baseline reading for workers on loud work sites.
Injury Management and Prevention
Injured workers have immediate access to a range of medical personnel to ensure an integrated and prompt recovery with optimal outcomes for both the employee and employer. Our doctor’s work alongside allied health professionals and are experts in treating and returning injured workers back to the workplace as soon as it is safe to do so.
Skin Screening
Our doctors are trained in the diagnosis and management of skin problems, including skin cancers. An initial appointment with one of our doctors is required prior to any treatment plan.

Our clinic is government accredited to provide yellow fever vaccinations. We can provide you with a range of vaccines, including the yellow fever vaccine, and international certificate of vaccination in accordance with international health regulations.

COVID-19 UPDATE: All persons attending a medical appointment at a Sonic HealthPlus clinic will be required to complete a COVID-19 Triage Assessment form. If you are not vaccinated or fully vaccinated, we will need to undertake a risk assessment, which may include Rapid Antigen Testing.
Please note: Patients who attend for their medical assessment presenting with flu-like symptoms or have recently travelled from a COVID hotspot may be turned away.
